WHAT’S NEW IN WITZKE’S WORLD
THE WITZKE AWAKENS

Ok folks... so I got confirmation that you will HEAR me.. but not see me on Thursday December 17th's episode of THE BIG BANG THEORY! But of course you gotta watch... it is an epic episode on many levels. As Sheldon's force awakens, the boys go see a big movie (listen in the first scene in the theater - you'll hear me shout something). Very honored to be part of such an amazing show.

FRINGE... YOUNG PLAYWRIGHTS... STAGED READING... OH MY!
Nothing says summer, like doing a little theater to keep the skills sharp!
This summer we re-mounted “Is There Sex After Marriage?” a year after our successful run in North Hollywood, we moved it to Hollywood for 6 glorious performances in the Hollywood Fringe Festival!

At the same time, I was asked to join The Blank Theatre’s Young Playwright’s Festival (for the 5th time) in the production of “Bromeo and Julius.” Always an amazing experience to bring an 18 year old’s writing to life!

The best part was there was one night where I was in both shows... on the same night... at different theaters! An 8 PM curtain... followed by a 10 PM curtain. It was insane!
I called it ACTOR TO THE ABSOLUTE POWER and of course documented the day on FaceBook. Here are some of my posts.

And then if those few weeks weren’t enough - I co-produced a staged reading that reunited the cast of a play I did 10 years ago: THE BOOK OF LIZ!
It was one of the most fun evenings I have had in a long time. I haven’t had so much fun performing and then laughing in a long time.

I really am blessed with some of the most talented, funny, amazing friends. I love what I do. I love that I get to do it with these kind of people. #ShowPeople.

NEW YORK STATE OF MIND

Many times here in LA, you hear people saying they are living the dream. Well I recently was living the dream working on a new feature film. I am still besides myself. MONEY MONSTER is a new film directed by Jodie Foster and starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts! (WTF? Are you kidding... me in the company of film icons! WOW.)
Shot on location in New York city, I graced Wall Street to play a news reporter.
And if all that wasn’t exciting enough. Mr. Clooney’s wife Amal came to visit set the day I was shooting... and so did the paparazzi. Look who happened to photo bomb a couple of the pictures! AMAZING!

I am so honored and thrilled to be small part of this amazing film (produced by my long time friends Daniel Dubiecki and Lara Alameddine).

Holy moley! They have brought ‘The Announcer’ back to another episode of: Faking It! This time, to announce the weigh in for a fight! So excited and grateful to play again with an amazing cast. Thanks Alyson Silverberg for all you do! You are the best!

ARRRRRG - ‘FAKING IT’!
I was so honored to be offered a cool role on a hip MTV show: Faking It. It was fun night of pep-rally announcing! And come on - when you get to wear this... how can you not have a blast! I love my job!

PLAYING WITH ‘THE GOLDBERGS’
Had me a fine, fine day playing with the boys on The Goldbergs - including the incomparable George Segal! Even more exciting, this episode is a homage to the great 80’s movie, Ferris Bueller's Day Off. I play a certain Maitre'd at a fancy restaurant they try to crash and have lunch! Was a great day... and no better way to end it than George Segal shaking my hand and saying, “You did a really great job!” #honored

Sean Giambrone, Troy Gentile, me...
and in the back the one and only, George Segal.

MEN, WITZKE & CHILDREN
Check me out in Jason Reitman’s newest film: Men, Women & Children - staring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Garner. My scene is with the lovely Rosemarie Dewitt and the very cool Dennis Haysbert. Honored to be a part and excited for people to see it.

On set with good friends!

A few fun pics from the premiere with the amazing and talented editor - Dana Glauberman.

THE WHYS HAVE IT!
It has been quite a fall, going from one show right into another. I am honored to be in the new MainStage production of The Blank Theatre’s; THE WHY. So much to say... written by the playwright when he was 19, unbelievably talented cast-mates, amazing production. Here is our review from the LA Times:

Review 'The Why' revival at Blank Theatre sparks fresh questions

Comedy isn't the genre that springs to mind when one thinks of school shootings. But that is the unusual — and not insensitive route — Victor Kaufold, a fledgling 19-year-old playwright, took in responding to the tragedy that has come to be known simply and mournfully as Columbine.
'The Why's' spiraling satire hasn't lost its currency in the intervening years.
- Charles McNulty, Los Angeles Times Theater Critic

"The Why" is currently being revived at the Blank Theatre where it had its world premiere in 2000, and it is our national disgrace that the play's spiraling satire hasn't lost its currency in the intervening years. In terms of playwriting craft, this is the work of a novice, but a thoughtful novice who knows the gadfly sting of laughter.
Mixing what might be called tragic farce with psychological inquiry, this multi-pronged, rapid-fire investigation (performed with all-out sketch-comedy attack by Ben Crowley, Nicholas Cutro, Jen Landon and Jeff Witzke) is better at parodying the media than cracking the mind-set of a disaffected teenage killer.
A succession of scenes examines the cultural reaction to these routine bloodbaths, with pundits yammering at cross-purposes and "Murder News" wringing ratings out of grief and horror. Landon has the phony vocal pattern down of a shameless TV reporter using an ordinary pencil (the one little Monica "used to take notes, pass messages to friends, and maybe make the occasional doodle") to elicit tears.
Less successful are the exchanges between a social worker and an alienated adolescent locked up after going on a murderous rampage at his school. The problem isn't so much the shift in tone but the unconvincing writing. The play doesn't build, dramatically or intellectually; it just keeps frenetically in motion, draining the more somber notes at the end of real pathos.
In the current production, directed by Blank artistic director Daniel Henning (who staged the original), the walls of the set contain the names of those killed in school shootings since Columbine. The list of victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre were neatly lined up like rows of little desks in a now darkened classroom.
"The Why" lampoons those with easy answers, but the names on that growing roster demand we do a better job of finding a solution.

A QUESTION FOR THE AGES
This summer I have had the pleasure of joining a production of the hit comedy: IS THERE SEX AFTER MARRIAGE? It continues to sell out every weekend and extend and extend. I am having a blast playing with some friends, new and old!

RIZZOLI & ISLES & WITZKE
I had a great couple of days shooting with the cast and crew of Rizzoli & Isles on an episode titled, “It Takes A Village.” Though I didn’t get to work with the title characters, I worked with the very talented Jordan Brides and Bruce (Animal House) McGill. Oh... and I got to have a beard for this one!!

The episode should be airing sometime in August.
